Sectoral distribution
|
| |
More than 70 % of the employees in Nuremberg work in the service
sectors. As the graphic shows, the share of employees in the manufacturing
sector is only marginally higher than the average for the cities
in Germany. So Nuremberg's economy meanwhile shows the typical sector
structure of a modern city. The term "industrial city"
still used in some cases describes the economic roots, but no longer
the present situation in modern Nuremberg.

Nuremberg has a balanced mix of company sizes. The jobs are more
or less equally divided among large, medium and small enterprises.

Department of Economic Affairs in Nuremberg publishes a comprehensive
economic report every two years, which documents the economic development
of Nuremberg and the economic measures implemented. The current
report covers the period from October 2001 to October 2003 and provides
an overview of the many economic policy activities and projects.
