Freight traffic center Port of Nuremberg

The large Main-Danube Canal waterway leads through Nuremberg and together with the Rhine and Danube rivers forms a waterway of 3,500 km in length. This means Nuremberg offers a good water transport route to the states bordering on the Rhine and to the North Sea and via the Danube to the Black Sea.

Location factor freight traffic center

The freight traffic center (GVZ) at the port is the biggest multifunctional freight transport center in Southern Germany and an important logistics hub for the region: more than 10 million tons of cargo handled a year, an area of 337 ha and over 260 firms (logistics service providers, recycling and production companies) with 5,300 employees.
