Lively, urban, cosmopolitan, but also relaxed, compact and with lots of personal touches - Nuremberg offers a high quality of life with a very special flair. Nuremberg is not only a good place for working, it is excellent for living, too.

Environment

Nuremberg's environmental data are extremely good for a metropolis with a population of half a million. In a worldwide comparison of the environmental conditions in 218 major cities, Nuremberg is rated 17th on a level with Bern, Copenhagen and Boston. This makes the city one of the "top ten percent" of the cleanest metropolises in the world.

nach oben

Der Dutzendteich in Nürnberg

There are several reasons for this: there are no environment-polluting basic or raw material industries here and the city itself does a lot to protect its environment. Specific programs for reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emission are implemented on the basis of CO2 audits for Nuremberg and the conurbation.

An ecological waste management concept ensures a high above-average recycling quota of around 53 %. Another reason: The Nuremberg Reichswald, one of the largest forest areas in Germany close to a city, is more or less on the doorstep and the meadows on the banks of the River Pegnitz and Regnitz form a green belt that penetrates the urban triangle from Nuremberg via Fürth to Erlangen. Ecological urban design and planning based on the needs of the people make Nuremberg a pleasant city, in which people feel at home.

Living

Die Nürnberger Altstadt

From apartments in old Jugendstil buildings, penthouse apartments on the banks of the River Pegnitz, modern living in new buildings or factory lofts to a house in the country: Dream homes can still become reality relatively easily and at attractive prices in Nuremberg. Almost half the city comprises unbuilt open spaces, parks, river meadows, fields and gardens. Careful restoration and modernization of established urban districts particularly make living in the city attractive.
